Global Optimization with Quantum Walk Enhanced Grover Search

چکیده
One of the significant breakthroughs in quantum computation is Grover’s algorithm for unsorted database search. Recently, the applications of Grover’s algorithm to solve global optimization problems have been demonstrated, where unknown optimum solutions are found by iteratively improving the threshold value for the selective phase shift operator in Grover rotation. In this paper, a hybrid approach that combines continuous-time quantumwalks with Grover search is proposed. By taking advantage of quantum tunneling effect, local barriers are overcome and better threshold values can be found at the early stage of search process. The new algorithm based on the formalism is demonstrated with benchmark examples of global optimization. The results between the new algorithm and the Grover search method are also compared.

Grover's Quantum Algorithm Applied to Global Optimization
Grover’s quantum computational search procedure can provide the basis for implementing adaptive global optimization algorithms. A brief overview of the procedure is given and a framework called Grover adaptive search is set up. A method of Dürr and Høyer and one introduced by the authors fit into this framework and are compared.
متن کاملDynamic Grover Search: Applications in Recommendation systems and Optimization problems
In the recent years we have seen that Grover search algorithm [1] by using quantum parallelism has revolutionized the field of solving huge class of NP problems in comparison to classical systems. In this work we explore the idea of extending the Grover search algorithm to approximate algorithms. Here we try to analyze the applicability of Grover search to process an unstructured database with ...

for a database with large number of entries N . After jfull the algorithm finds the target item. For more details, see also [2–4]. Below we shall call Ĝ1 a global iteration. Sometimes it is sufficient to find an approximate location of the target item. A partial search considers the following problem: a database is separated into K blocks, of a size b = N/K. We want to find a block with the tar...
متن کاملQuantum Walk Based Search Algorithms
In this survey paper we give an intuitive treatment of the discrete time quantization of classical Markov chains. Grover search and the quantum walk based search algorithms of Ambainis, Szegedy and Magniez et al. will be stated as quantum analogues of classical search procedures. We present a rather detailed description of a somewhat simplified version of the MNRS algorithm. Finally, in the que...
متن کاملOptimization of Partial Search
Quantum Grover search algorithm can find a target item in a database faster than any classical algorithm. One can trade accuracy for speed and find a part of the database (a block) containing the target item even faster, this is partial search. A partial search algorithm was recently suggested by Grover and Radhakrishnan. Here we optimize it. Efficiency of the search algorithm is measured by nu...
